My Little Box - January's box

My Little Box

I first came across My Little Box whilst watching YouTuber Kassia Poh's video of her unboxing one. I thought it was such a lovely idea and the items you received looked super cute. In the past I'd toyed with the idea of subscribing to a beauty box but when I found this I 100% thought this was more up my street.

I kept putting it off for ages and then decided to treat myself after Christmas. It was so easy to subscribe, I choose to have a monthly subscription where I can unsubscribe at anytime. The box itself is £11 (per month) and then £3.95 delivery (per month) so £14.95 per month. I choose to have the box delivered to work instead of home and I saved £1 on the delivery making it £13.95 per month. If you have the option of having it delivered to work instead this is worth choosing.

As I was a new subscriber my 'welcome' email told me that my box would arrive within 3 weeks whereas after your first month you can expect to receive it between the 10th and 20th of each month.

I received my first box yesterday and couldn't wait to open it!
Each month the box has a theme and January's is wishes.
I ripped open the delivery box like a kid on Christmas Day and loved the cute design on the front. I also thought the sticker on the inside of the delivery box was a lovely idea.

Once inside the box, you are greeted with an inspirational quote themed to the box and I loved this one "All our dreams can come true, if you have the courage to pursue them!" and it is by Walt Disney so I found this very fitting to my life.......trying to pursue my dreams and my love of all things Disney.
I also loved the little ribbon it was tied with.

I was delighted to find a 2016 diary waiting for me, it is so sweet.

Each month has a little drawing to go with it and there is plenty of room to write something on each day.
I was very happy with this :)

Next up was a magazine 'Our Little World". You receive one of these each month and it covers beauty and fashion. I've not looked at it properly yet but when I have a quiet moment, I'll have a read through with a nice cup of tea.

I've emptied the box so you can see how all the goodies are presented.

At first I wasn't sure what this was but after googling "petits reins' I discovered it means 'little things'.

They are strands of ribbon with a saying on each one that you can give away to a friend that the saying fits to.
The last one is a treat for yourself.

Then I delved into the little bag. Inside I found three products, one is always from My Little Box's own beauty range 'My Little Beauty'. This month was a lip balm and then a 3-in-1 cleanser by REN and a face moisturiser by Garnier. Each item has a description card to give you some info on the product and how much they cost if you wanted to buy them after you've used it all.
The Garnier moisturiser normally costs £13.99 on it's own so these boxes are well worth the money.

I was really impressed with my first box :)
I posted a picture on my personal Instagram page last night and a friend messaged me this morning to say they've now subscribed after being inspired by my picture!
Here's a quick link if you'd like to join the club.

I can't wait for February's box to be delivered!

Do you subscribe to My Little Box or can you recommend another subscription boxes?

Day Three

Day Three: My Inspiration } My Grandma.

She was an amazing, strong woman who never let her disability stop her from doing anything. She developed Polio and was wheelchair bound as a young mum of two kids.
So when I am in my dark place and on the verge of giving up on my dreams, I find the inner strength that she had. She was a fighter and NEVER gave up. She's my inspiration.

The Spicery

For Christmas my favourite Brother bought me a subscription box to The Spicery.

We love our Indian food and support our local Indian restaurant with a take away treat most Saturday nights. So when I opened the box on Christmas Day I was really chuffed.

In the box you get all of the spices to create a curry, a side, A chutney, a Paratha and extras for your rice.

I'd received the Dhansak Night recipe and couldn't wait to get started!

Along with the spices come instructions on how to create the dishes and a shopping list of some fresh ingredients that you will need.

As neither of us had plans for NYE we decided to make it then. I nipped to Asda in the morning which was a baaaaaad idea as the rest of Leicestershire were visiting Asda as well!
We needed -

- Full Fat Natural Yogurt 45p
- 1 Lemon 30p
- Plain Flour 80p
- Ground Ginger 74p
- Cloves of Garlic 25p
- 2 Chicken breast   £3
(The recipe suggests Lamb but I'm not a big Lamb lover)
- Basmati Rice £1.70
- Red Lentils £1.15
- Frozen Peas £1.35

Total spent £9.74

The Instructions were great and very detailed the only little piece of info that was missing was a temperature guide. It wasn't the end of the world but a couple of times I worried that I was cooking things too hot/quickly.

The cooking time was 1 hour and 50 mins which did go quickly as there was something to prepare the whole time but it meant we didn't eat until 9pm! Next time, I'd probably start it earlier.

I enjoyed making the dishes completely from scratch and knowing exactly what was going into my food...no added naughty extras. It did get a little manic at the end when everything was ready and I was trying to fry the Paratha!

Here's the end result!
Sorry absolutely rubbish photo.

It was very tasty but I couldn't finish it all. The recipe was for 4 people, normally this is fine for 2 but this was very generous so next time I may try halving the recipe or freezing the other half for another night.

I look forward to receiving my second subscription and I'll share this with you all as well.

If you are stuck for a gift idea for a spice lover or just want to treat yourself then  a subscription to The Spicery is a must.

Happy New Year!!!

Happy New Year, 2016 has begun!

This year I have set myself the challenge to do a 'photo a day challenge' set by the lovely Amelia from xameliax. Check out her blog and YouTube channel, she's quite an inspiring young lady.

Why don't you join in? Below is the challenge, just take a photo that fits in with each day using your interpretation. Then upload your photo on Instagram using the #xaxPhotoADay tag.
I'll be uploading my photos on my personal Instagram account but will also post them on here and do a weekly montage on blonde.flowers.life account so go take a peek :)

Day One: New Years Morning } Bed, cup tea and Monsters vs Aliens.
